Judge Tony Powell speaker for May 19 luncheon

Judicial activism is rampant in this day and age. The Wichita Christian Chamber of Commerce will address this issue at its next meeting May 19 at the Larkspur restaurant in Old Town. Judge Tony Powell serves in the Sedgwick County District Court presiding of the Family Law Department.

Sedgwick County District Court Judge Anthony Powell currently serves as the presiding judge in the Family Law Department. During his tenure on the bench, Judge Powell has served in the Family Law, Civil, and Criminal Departments where he has presided over hundreds of trials. Judge Powell was unopposed for re-election in 2006, and received high marks from the members of the bar in a Wichita Eagle survey of local judges and their performance conducted that year. Judge Powell also serves on the End of Life Issues committee of the Judicial Council, and the Kansas Supreme Court's Domestic High Conflict Committee.
